Igneous Metal Arts is a 501( (c) (3) organization dedicated to preserving metal casting as an art form and practice. Our mission is to support and build the fine art casting community by sharing our experience, offering learning opportunities to the public through workshops, and hosting casting performances. Our members and associates have participated in metal casting events throughout our region, from Northern Minnesota to Iowa, and beyond.

Our members are active in expanding our knowledge by sharing our experience in venues that offer instruction of the mechanics of metal pouring, guidance of aspiring artists, and support of each other in our personal growth as individual artists and as a group of artists. We believe that a vibrant, active, supportive and inclusive casting community is an excellent form in which to develop personal empowerment and self-expression - this is a passion we wish to share with the public.

The founding members Scott Kamlah, Roger Karlson, Ben Post, and Marie Schrobilgen have been casting together since 2011 at the University of Minnesota foundry.

Bayani Genereaux, a fellow U of M foundry alumnus, rounded out the board’s roster in 2019 after casting with the group as an associate since 2017.

As a collective force Igneous have continued to participate in casting opportunities offered by other members in the casting community, along with hosting their own cooperative efforts throughout Minnesota.
